Nepal Growth of a Nation is a survey history stressing the themes which are significant in understanding Nepal's development. This book attempts to answer most of the questions asked and has adequate details to understand most of the problems in the development of Nepal. The themes that are discussed are land and man, vision and leadership, politics for profit, and control and centralization. These challenging themes are sketched through two hundred years of Nepalese history. It is even more challenging to appreciate the way the factors discussed in the development of each theme interact to form a strong web that limits individual freedom of choice and action. This book is an invitation to those who work in Nepal to consider the complex socio-economic and political heritage.
